Welcome to My Painting World

I have been painting for over 20 years, mainly in watercolours. I chose this medium because I loved the light shining through the paper so most of my work is done in transparent colours.

I am very active in the art community here on Vancouver Island and I bring in International Artists to give workshops here twice a year. This is done through the Saanich Peninsula Arts & Crafts Society of which I am a member. If you are interested in seeing what is coming up click on the Workshop link below.

Since I live in the flower capital of Canada I do alot of florals but have recently branched out into combining my watercolours with acrylic and I really like the affect.

My garden has lots of sweetpeas this year and so I sat amongst them and did this painting today.

This is really beautiful Ruth. I know we're not supposed to be envious, but it's too hot to grow sweetpeas down here and I'd love to have my morning coffee amongst these lovely ladies.

Thanks Mollie...sweet peas are so delicate.. I guess they like a cooler climate :) I guess that is why flowers grow so prolific here..
